Enhancing Home Security with Residential Property Surveillance

Peace of mind with video surveillance accessible from the palm of your hand. Our residential surveillance systems feature local storage with no monthly fees. Access live view, recordings, and playback from anywhere you have an internet connection*.

Modern video surveillance systems consist of IP (Internet Protocol) Cameras, a Network Video Recorder (NVR) and storage. IP Cameras provide digital video footage and screenshots to an end user or the associated NVR. The NVR stores the footage on internal and optional external storage devices and handles the majority of notifications to the user. IP Cameras transmit video, audio, and communication over category wire. Typically, our installations use Category 6 cable (Cat 6, also defined as Ethernet cable) to send and receive data, as well as provide power to the IP Camera. This technology is referred to as Power over Ethernet (PoE) and has long replaced the antiquated analog video surveillance with separate power supplying cables (think of old grainy video surveillance footage). IP Cameras come in many different sizes, shapes and configurations depending on the intended purpose. For the majority of residential video surveillance applications, IP dome cameras, bullet and mini bullet cameras are popular solutions. In addition to standard coverage surveillance cameras, wired IP video doorbell cameras add another level of surveillance and communication to your home video surveillance system.
At IT NV, we understand the importance of your video surveillance system being a reliable, accessible, and easy to use part of your home. We do not endorse any of the common wireless camera systems as they heavily rely on an internet connection for surveillance footage to be captured. It’s our experience that when you need the footage the most, there was some malfunction (natural or malicious) of internet or power. Instead, we install systems that are hard wired to an on-premises recording system. This not only ensures your footage is secure, but it also provides power to your camera using Power Over Ethernet (PoE), eliminating the need to charge batteries or provide alternative charging methods.

Effective Placement of Home Surveillance Cameras for Your Home

Not all systems are created equal. Seeing as you’re here looking into home video surveillance, it’s safe to assume you’ve seen some of the packaged kits at the big box stores. It’s important to realize these systems do not come with the features, reliability or capabilities of a video surveillance system designed by IT NV. First to note is the low maximum bandwidth the surveillance systems sold in retail settings come with. You may be purchasing 4k cameras packaged with a recorder and some fancy features. The problem comes when you have eight 4K cameras connected to an eight-channel recorder. The recorder cannot handle recording all eight channels at the 4K resolution due to the overall bandwidth requirements. In turn, you end up with a few cameras recording at 4K resolution and the remainder cameras recording at a lower, distorted resolution or at a low framerate causing jittery video footage. Another key point to note is these systems are not designed to record 24/7. They instead rely on the motion activated settings to start and stop recording. A major problem with this method is there is often activity or events that occur without being retained. The main purpose of a video surveillance system is to accurately and completely capture events that occur when you cannot see. Our systems also feature cabling and integration that is compatible with all major brands of video surveillance systems. Oftentimes, box store surveillance systems use an outdated, bulky Bayonet Nut Coupling (BNC) type of connection which is hard to conceal, terminate, weatherproof, and use in general.

Our process of design and installation of your home video surveillance system considers many factors of your habits, tendencies and layout of your property. Through this process, we can determine the correct amount of storage, type of video surveillance cameras and optimum location of surveillance devices.

Our surveillance systems are designed to be present and visible, but not intrusive to the appearance of your home. Our professionalLow Voltage Structured Wiring ensures your installation not only looks great, but also functions for years to come, is easily expandable and is protected from intentional or inadvertent damage.
